UX Research & HCI
User interviews, workflow analysis, usability testing, and information architecture design grounded in Human-Computer Interaction principles.
M.Sc. Media Informatics student at Saarland University with industry experience in ERP systems, banking software, and enterprise UX design. From Nepal 🇳🇵, now building things in Saarbrücken 🇩🇪.
Honestly? I'm just someone who gets genuinely excited when a confusing interface becomes clear, or when research actually changes how a product gets built. I like making things that work for real people — not just things that look like they do.
I'm Dayaraj Dhungana, a UX designer and software engineer from Nepal, currently pursuing my M.Sc. in Media Informatics at Saarland University in Germany. My academic focus sits at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Interactive Systems, and human-centered AI.
Before moving to Germany, I spent years in Nepal's tech industry — designing UX for ERP platforms, building frontend systems for banking and QR payment products, and doing graphic design work. Each role taught me something different: research and systems, engineering discipline, and visual communication.
My bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from Tribhuvan University came with a full scholarship and the highest academic performance in my department — something I'm quietly proud of. Now in Germany, I'm pushing further into HCI research, AR systems, and human-centered AI.
I split my time between design work — building products that real businesses run on — and academic research at Saarland University. Two worlds that keep making each other better.
Human-centered design rooted in real research
ERP, banking, enterprise-scale design
Nepal × Germany perspective on design
Research → wireframe → prototype → code
I bridge the gap between user research and production ready interfaces. See my full work at drd.com.np.
User interviews, workflow analysis, usability testing, and information architecture design grounded in Human-Computer Interaction principles.
Enterprise-grade product design, ERP systems, banking dashboards, reusable design systems. Pixel perfect Figma prototypes to Figma handoff.
Translating designs into working code, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React. I've shipped frontend for banking systems and enterprise web apps.
Depending on why you're here, one of these paths will be more useful than the other.
My full product design portfolio — case studies, shipped products, ERP systems, dashboards, and more. Four years of real industry work.

M.Sc. Media Informatics. Researching HCI, AR, and human-centered AI in one of Germany's research focused universities.
Brötchen, strong coffee, Figma open. The contrast between Germany's calm precision and Nepal's chaotic energy still surprises me every day.
Won the BIC Hackathon 2022 with InfoNav, an AR based navigation system prototype.
Nepal, Germany, and moments in between. I shoot when something catches my eye, not a photographer, just someone who pays attention.
Beyond design and code, I care about sports, culture, and life as a Nepali student in Germany. These conversations explore exactly that.

Have a project, research collaboration, or just want to say hi? I'd love to hear from you.
M.Sc. Media Informatics · Saarland University · Saarbrücken
I design and research how people interact with complex software systems. Four years of industry experience building enterprise UX and banking products in Nepal — now applying that practitioner background to academic HCI research at Saarland University. Open to HiWi positions, student assistant roles, and research collaborations.
Enrolled at Saarland University, based in Saarbrücken. Available immediately for any of the following.
Supporting academic research in Human-Computer Interaction. I can assist with study design, participant recruitment, data collection, usability evaluations, and prototype development for research experiments.
Creating interfaces, prototypes, and design assets for research projects or academic software tools. 4+ years of Figma experience, shipped design systems used in production.
Open to collaborating on research projects, seminar papers, or thesis work intersecting HCI, AR, or human-centered AI. I bring an industry practitioner's perspective useful in applied research.
My research sits at the intersection of how people interact with intelligent systems — and how design can make that interaction more humane.
My primary research focus. I'm interested in how cognitive load, mental models, and workflow context shape the design of interactive systems — particularly in complex enterprise and professional environments where bad design has real operational cost.
I designed and prototyped InfoNav, an AR-based indoor navigation system that won the BIC Hackathon 2022. I'm interested in how spatial computing changes the design constraints of traditional UI — particularly for navigation, wayfinding, and contextual information overlays.
I'm drawn to how AI systems communicate uncertainty, build appropriate trust, and fit into existing workflows without creating new cognitive burdens. My industry background designing ERP and banking software gives me a grounded perspective on where AI assistance actually helps vs. where it adds noise.
Years designing dashboards for accounting, finance, and operations teams. I'm interested in how visual encoding decisions affect comprehension speed, decision quality, and the representation of uncertainty in data-driven interfaces.
Designed and shipped 4 production products used by real businesses — ERP, banking, dashboards, mobile apps.
Ran user interviews, contextual inquiry, usability tests, and synthesis sessions with real participants in production contexts.
From paper sketches to fully interactive Figma prototypes to coded HTML/CSS/JS — I can build whatever fidelity a study needs.
Having worked across Nepal and Germany in very different software markets, I bring perspective on how cultural context shapes UX assumptions.
B.E. Computer Engineering + M.Sc. Media Informatics. I can read and write code, which makes collaboration with technical research teams much smoother.
Top of department at Tribhuvan University (full scholarship), BIC Hackathon winner, 4 years running projects from brief to launch.
I'm available now in Saarbrücken for HiWi roles, student assistant positions, or research collaborations. I respond quickly and can start immediately.
